I loved this piece, Marjie. It's beautiful. No one has come to any of the homes I've lived in to see it and bring back memories sad, happy, and everything in between. It's an honor and a gift to invite people who've been associated with the house in the past.

On a road trip with my mother before she passed away nine months later, we went to her parents' home in Pasadena for one last look. We pulled up in front, got out, walked up the steps to the porch, and I knocked on the door. I was praying they'd open it to give my mother the gift of seeing the house again. I have so many memories of spending summers there as a child. They didn't open the door. They didn't respond to the note I left asking them to call me. I made up my mind then and there to always say "yes" to a request of seeing or showing the house. A "yes" fills body, heart, and soul for all.

That's a LOT of legacy. Does it feel heavy?

As your friend and a current member of this household about to celebrate my 6th year here in a week or less, this house definitely has stories to tell!

When I came down yesterday and saw the tea and cookies still set up in the kitchen, it warmed my spirits up!

That set up so reminded of a simple hug!

A cup of calming tea, and a couple of cookies to soothe the soul!

At times this house brings forth magical moments; peaceful moments.

That was one for me!

Lovely. I just sold a family home this past year. It was tough. (At some trouble and expense, I made sure that it did not go to a developer.) Separately, Far Land kept us going for a few days this past summer around my daughter's PTown wedding. Good lord, they get busy in August! Incidentally, exactly how many cookies is too many cookies? Asking for a friend, naturally.

Yep, that one made me well up with tears. And reminded me of going to my grandparents house after they were both gone. I opened the door to the china cabinet and had a good sniff. they always kept Bob's Peppermint Sticks in there and I swear I could smell them still.

I love this. Thank you. I learned many years ago that the person whose job I had taken over used to rent a room in the house we own now. And a few years ago my sister and I were awkwardly standing and staring outside a Victorian home in Newton that we lived in for just two years, until the owner came out to ask us to come in. The ghosts that had lived in the coal cellar and the attic were gone. They had been scary, but we were still a little sad about their loss.

Beautiful.

I’d say more but I taught today -even PE…don’t ask—- and Digital Technology (still don’t know what microbits are or why that student fell off his chair and ended up facing the wrong way snd under the desk, and so…all the words and energy have been sucked out of my brain.

I did, however, enjoy this piece and reflect on how amazingly old your home is briefly before that 7am call that wrecked the rest of the day. (See? Your blog-I know it’s not a blog but can’t remember what it’s called- is usually the very first thing I read and think about in a Wednesday morning. It’s important to start the day off right!

Also loved learning the origins of the name! Fun!

I’ll stop now because I don’t know where all these words are dribbling out of my brain from.,.keep up the good work!

People have always said ‘if these walls could talk’ … you have given yourself voice. And those biscuits look as if they would melt in your mouth. Lovely!!
