My then 95 year-old mother's last trip was to Amsterdam and tour the country-side on a bike. She rode up front in that box they use for deliveries.

“But oh, the places I’ve went.” I love that.

I loved this piece for so many reasons. One because of the spontaneous adventures of traveling that one can never predict and plan for. Two because I can just hear you talking to that very dark South African about your friend who looks just like him and him going along fluidly with the gag. Three because the items one collects brings you back to that time and place and provides such special memories. Four because of the Dr. Suess wisdom and your play with the lines. Five because Celestial Seasons Cinnamon Apple Spice tea is my FAVORITE. I brought three boxes home when I returned from the States in December. I'm worried I might have to ration it to get me through the winter.

Keep up these delicious and delightful posts. I love them.

Love it! But that was a given, and, Ooh! So I realised that you sneakily wrote about bags, bowls and blue bathroom fans as if you just knew I was a fan of alliteration and the rule of three. What fun!

And you raised philosophical questions for me: can a woman dress in drag? And is it as much fun as when a man does? (Obviously it can't possibly be as much fun as flamenco drag but I'm still curious.) Or can a woman just dress up as a man in drag....that could be very fun.

Cinnamon Apple tea - yum! Add a tiny touch of cream and it can be "a la mode," almost.

I haven't wandered as far afield (so far), but: watching the sun set and the moon rise at the same time on our way back to Winnipeg, Manitoba (Canada); drinking bespoke hot chocolate in a cafe in Melbourne, Australia; and witnessing the Northern Lights in Anchorage, Alaska are three of my highlights that I won't ever forget.

A crazy-good piece, Marjie.

We’re from Fort Collins, now rolling I-10 to Tucson from a Phoenix vrbo to visit friends from Saint Paul we made last spring in Maine on the way to Cape Breton. We rattled around the Navajos’ rocky circle inside Monument Valley last week -- it’s easily worth a thousand miles out of your way.

Ahh - the people and places we’ve saw.

Even worse: now it's, "the places you'll never go". Ah well.

Loved this and loved every one of those items.....

Loved reading about your adventures- especially the drag flamenco dancers!!! I can drink English or Irish breakfast tea at any time. And I was not even aware I needed to consider an expiration date on Celestial teas!! Oh no. Now the dilemma- do I look and risk chucking my entire stash, or ‘decant’ into my tea box? Easy pick...

I love this a lot. I don't even do handbags, but that weave! And the baskets are to die for. Thank goodness I don't have the power to kill because now you'd be dead. Wonderful, wonderful piece.

I wish I could post a picture. She was 5'10" and very skinny. She is curled up in the relatively small bucket. She is totally wrapped up in layers of coats and jackets, and wearing a ridiculous hat. My BIL who is actually pedalling the bike is wearing a T-shirt. She was always up for an adventure even when she was always cold.
