Most of this was beyond me, Marjie, because even though I'm clearly a boomer, I'm not exposed to this stuff being away from the US. Or maybe I just tune it out or it's not important. What I did get was your mother singing "Hang on stupid, stupid hang on." When Fabio was young he used to sing "Lettuce be, lettuce be, singing words of wisdom, lettuce be."
In any case, I'm always how diverse and creative your mind is. There's nothing you can't do.
Of course I had to check out the website after you mentioned it, and fell madly in love with it at first sight. Window shopping for now, but their Horchata Chai is actually reasonably priced. I know what I'm getting for a birthday treat in a couple of months.
This is one of my favorite stacks. I’m GenX so we basically get ignored and are fine with it, but the whole fury against Boomers is so stupid. Get off my lawn, youngs.
What's interesting to me, is the fact that "boomer" is starting to be used as anyone who doesn't share "my views on this subject". It used to be about generation, but now it's more of a cudgel used to incite violent emotions from those individuals the words are directed towards. Perhaps more interestingly, it's being used to describe good things from the past. (I started to say nostalgic, but that's wrong, most of the people using this term weren't born)
Born in 1942 (eek!) I share a car with my 18-year-old granddaughter. She leaves the radio tuned to assorted pop stations and I’ve committed to listening. I’ve found things I like! E.g. Noah Kahn (sp?) and Miley Cyrus. Yours was a good rant.
First of all "waving cane in the air" - hahaha! Secondly, I can't remember if we ever talked about a book that I read when I was twelve called "The Well of Loneliness" by Radclyffe Hall. This book deeply affected me as far as understanding the concept of someone really being born in the wrong body.....however I do think that things have morphed (as they do) into other meanings since that really impossible time.

They’ll all be the older generation some day!

Wow! That’s interesting. And yes, “boomer” means anyone older who I disagree with, or whose policies I dislike.
"I died in your arms tonight, musta been somethin' I ate."
Not sure if it's a proper Mondegreen or just what I wanted to hear.
Tomato, tomahto
my favorite is still the classic "'scuse me, while i kiss this guy."
great read, thanks marjie!
So classic!
OK, you are probably going to get a ton of these, but here is child-Eileen's:
"...blue-eyed, bunny, bunny in the weeds"

Thank you. And I enjoy both those artists.
