If I were taking a teen to London, I would head to the Camden Locks, and the Regents Canal. I would recommend reading Ben Aaronovitch Rivers of London series for a nonstandard take on the city. Being gifted with paranormal powers is not for the week of heart.
Great post. Tourists should see all sides of the city, even the grimmer ones. The post reminded me of how much about access to clean water we take forgranted.
I knew about John Snow because of my caareer in public health. One of the organizations that my company partnered with was named John Snow.
Just finished "Victoria "a masterpiece theatre production on PBS. Series covered the early years of Queen Victoria reign. I learned about the cholera epidemic that occurred at that time and Dr.Snow. I also was thinking that the identified water pump would be a good spot to seek out as a tourist. Here it is!

I love (reading about) infectious diseases! I mean they are bad but now we have penicillin! Who knew that about cholera and malaria? What a miasma. Send me that disease tourism brochure, Marie! Great post!
Something I really didn't know.....
It's what I'm here for.

This is very true - and a great tourism plan!
Write that series on Disease Tourism, please!
Damn, that would be fun...

There’s so MUCH grim history. Now there’s a name for a book!
