Adventures in hearing and paying attention. I know the frustration but do get a kick out his weird interpretations of what he thinks he heard. Thank you for the morning laugh .

My mother--91 years old-- is also hard of hearing. She has one hearing aid that she hasn't had cleaned or adjusted in all the years she's worn it. I have no idea why she refuses to get a second one but it's probably either expense or vanity. If she isn't facing you, she doesn't hear you at all. Nothing. You can rest assured she'll never hear any of your frustrated, I'm-going-insane utterances unless you are both facing her AND yelling.

Something in my brain confuses yelling at her to be heard and yelling because I'm angry so I often FEEL angry after spend time with her even though nothing even remotely grumpy has happened.

(by the way, I'm with you on the question of what constitutes enough spice in a good chai... it should be almost enough to blow the top of your head off like a Wylie Coyote bomb. unless you have a cold, then it should blow)
