OK, this is a lot, this course. In a good way. But this week’s discovery is that Chat GPT is way better than I am at coming up with pitch points for an article.
You put in what you want to say, your general thesis and points you want to make, and it spits out an outline and a pitch, if you ask it to. It’s not at all perfect, but it’s very much faster than I am, and it gives me something to work from. It’s always easier to correct than to create. But those pitch points are so good, over all.
This implies that with enough AI, I might start learning, which is… what is that? Meta? Opposite Day?
Does that mean any intelligence I gain will be artificial?
Oh dear.
Onward!
Love luxardo cherries! Plus they go well with whisky. Loved your twist on artificial intelligence meaning.
I feel like AI is, in some ways, leveling a playing field. Writers - lesser known, less famous ones, especially - have been told that things like pitches and summaries are part of the blood, sweat and tears of writing, as though spending time on these things while we have nothing to eat is noble and good because that's what makes us writers.
Meanwhile, privileged and famous writers have people who do this work for them.
I feel there's little to be gained from time spent on "grunt work." Let AI do it if it's capable.
