I haven’t felt I’ve been giving it my all the last several weeks, what with all the travel, losing my dog, and then coming down with the ‘Rona. I do apologize for that.
Last week, when I first got my test results, I thought, “Perfect! I’ll finally have time to write!”
Perhaps my expectations were not quite reasonable.
I’m not usually someone who’s good at uni-tasking. I’m a line chef by training and nature, and if I’m not doing at least three things at once I’m nudgy, and antsy, and fidgety, and all the “ys” that relate to being utterly unsuitable for irritating things like meditation and sitting in one place without doing a thing or three.
In the last ten days, however, it’s taken me four separate viewings of Homicide Hunter, season 9, episode 20, “The End,” to figure out what happened. I kept falling asleep earlier and earlier in the episode, and apparently my extrapolator is broken, because I had to back up farther and farther to remember what was going on, and I couldn’t just do my usual predicting and know the outcome.
I tried reading, but I couldn’t remember how to do that.
I’m prone to staring at nothing for long periods of time. Maybe hours. I really couldn’t say.
I burned out on the yard care Youtube videos, but luckily someone’s put up all the BBC missing person episodes, so I get to watch lots of demented Brits being found wandering through quaint fields and villages.
“John, we’ve been worried about you. You’ve been on walk-about for hours now! Would you like some tea?”
“Wallace, there seems to be a warrant out for your arrest due to your unfortunate drug history. Please come with us. Would you like a cup of tea?”
“Sally, your mum’s been quite upset with you gone all this time and you leaving your phone behind with that suicide note on Facebook. Would you like a cup of tea?”
When I fall asleep I can’t always find the same episode to go back to and complete, but it doesn’t really matter because they’re always going to say the same thing. It’s very grounding.
I took a shower a few times. Yes, I’m showing off.
I get up, I make tea, I walk a few steps, and I’m ready to nap. Some friends came by to dust me off and care for me, and I fell asleep on them.
I am a party animal.
I hear Joe Kenda has another series on Discovery+. That should get me through the next month.
Morning Teaistisms
In a nutshell.
Joe did it, right?
I binge watched about four TV shows when I had COVID and I can barely remember any of it.
